Advertise on AI Tool Hub / How We Make Money
Full transparency on how AI Tool Hub makes money. Every revenue source, every rate, every term. We disclose more than any other AI directory because we believe readers have the right to know who is paying for the content they read.
The TL;DR
AI Tool Hub is supported by 4 revenue sources:
- Display advertising (Google AdSense) - the highest revenue source
- Affiliate links (currently ElevenLabs, DigitalOcean, Hostinger) - small, disclosed, never influences rankings
- Sponsored content (clearly labeled, separated from editorial) - rare, not how we prefer to monetize
- Reader support (we accept donations but do not currently have a tip jar) - tiny, not a real revenue source yet
We do not: sell user data, run sponsored reviews disguised as editorial, accept payment to change rankings, or take exclusive affiliate deals that would create a financial incentive to favor one tool over another.
Revenue source 1: Display advertising (Google AdSense)
AI Tool Hub displays contextual ads via Google AdSense. The ads are placed in 3 locations: a top banner (above the fold on long-form pages), inline ads (in the middle of long articles), and a sidebar (on the home page and category pages).
How much do we make?
Display ad revenue is the highest of our 4 sources. As of Q1 2026, we make roughly $2,000-3,000 per month from AdSense, depending on traffic. The exact number varies month to month based on click-through rate, advertiser bids, and seasonality.
How does it affect our editorial?
It does not. Google serves the ads algorithmically based on page content and user behavior. We do not see the advertisers, do not choose which tools get ads, and do not get paid more for specific placements. AdSense has no editorial component - it is a pure contextual ad system.
How does it affect our rankings?
It does not. Our review scores are based on the 5-dimension rubric and our 2-week hands-on testing. Google does not pay us more to rank any specific tool higher, and we have not entered into any arrangement that would create such an incentive.
What if I block the ads?
That is fine. We do not use any anti-adblock technology. The site works perfectly with uBlock Origin or any other ad blocker. We would rather you read the site than see an ad.
Revenue source 2: Affiliate links
AI Tool Hub has affiliate relationships with a small number of tools. When you click an affiliate link on our site and subsequently make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. This does not change the price you pay.
Current affiliate partners
- ElevenLabs - 30% recurring commission for the first 12 months (we make about $0.30 per $1 you spend in month 1, less in subsequent months)
- DigitalOcean - $25 one-time commission for new sign-ups (we make $25 if you spend $25+ on hosting in your first 30 days)
- Hostinger - 60% one-time commission for new sign-ups (we make ~$30-60 depending on the plan you choose)
How much do we make?
As of Q1 2026, affiliate revenue is roughly $300-600 per month. The number varies based on how many readers click and purchase. It is a small portion of our total revenue (under 20%).
How are they disclosed?
Every affiliate link on our site is marked with rel="sponsored" and a visible "affiliate" tag. The disclosure is also on the relevant tool review page and in our privacy policy.
How does it affect our rankings?
It does not. We do not give affiliate tools higher scores, place them in more prominent positions, or recommend them more strongly than non-affiliate tools. If a tool we are affiliated with drops in quality, the score drops regardless. If a non-affiliate tool is better, we say so.
Do we take exclusive affiliate deals?
No. We have been approached by tools offering 2x commission in exchange for exclusive placement. We have turned down every one. Our editorial independence is more valuable than the extra revenue.
Why affiliate at all?
Because it is the only revenue source that does not create a conflict of interest. Display ads are paid by the user (via their attention), sponsored content is paid by the tool, and affiliate links are paid by the tool - but only if the reader makes a purchase. We get paid for helping the user find a tool they actually want, not for ranking it higher. The structure aligns our incentives with the reader.
Revenue source 3: Sponsored content
We accept a small amount of sponsored content, clearly labeled and separated from our editorial reviews. As of Q1 2026, we have published 0 sponsored pieces (all our content is editorial). We list the rules here for transparency.
What we accept
- Sponsored tools we already cover. If you are the vendor of a tool we already review, you can pay to place a "Vendor Spotlight" at the top of your existing review. The spotlight is clearly labeled, takes up ~10% of the page, and is written by us (not by the vendor).
- Sponsored tutorials. If you have a use case that fits our content calendar, you can pay for us to write a tutorial. The tutorial is written by our editorial team, fact-checked, and clearly labeled as "Sponsored by [Vendor]."
- Sponsored "Best of" roundups. If you have a category we do not currently cover, you can sponsor a "Best of [Category]" roundup. The roundup uses our standard review methodology, includes 3-5 honest options, and is clearly labeled.
What we will not accept
- Sponsored reviews of new tools (we will review them, but it will not be sponsored)
- Sponsored content that ranks a specific tool above a better alternative
- Sponsored content that hides the sponsorship from readers
- Sponsored content with no editorial oversight
- Sponsored content that is not in line with our editorial standards
Rates (as of July 2026)
- Vendor Spotlight on existing review: $500 per quarter
- Sponsored tutorial: $2,000 per article (we write it, you review for accuracy only)
- Sponsored "Best of" roundup: $3,000 per roundup (we choose the tools, you provide the budget for the research)
How much do we make?
As of Q1 2026: $0. We have not published any sponsored content yet. We prefer the affiliate model because it is conflict-free. If a vendor wants to sponsor something, we will consider it case-by-case.
Revenue source 4: Reader support
We do not currently have a tip jar or a paywall. We may add a tip jar in 2026 if reader demand is there. If you want to support the site, the best ways are:
- Share our reviews with people who would find them useful (free, appreciated)
- Use our affiliate links when you sign up for a tool we recommend (free to you, supports us)
- Send corrections and feedback (helps us improve, free)
- Submit a tool we should review (helps us cover the AI landscape, free)
That is enough. We are not running a charity, and we are not a VC-funded startup chasing growth at all costs. We are a small, sustainable, editorially-led directory. If the revenue covers the costs, we keep going. If it does not, we shut down or change the model.
What we will not do (the hard list)
The list of monetization tactics we will never use, regardless of how much money is on the table:
- Pay to rank. No tool can pay to be ranked higher, listed sooner, or given a better review.
- Pay to delist. No competitor can pay to have a rival tool removed from our directory.
- Pay to remove. No tool can pay to have a negative review taken down.
- Disguise sponsored content. Every sponsored piece is clearly labeled, both at the top and in the byline.
- Exclusive affiliate deals. We link to whichever tool is best for the reader, regardless of affiliate status.
- Sell user data. We do not collect user data beyond standard server logs, and we do not sell or share it.
- Pay for backlinks. We do not pay for links, accept paid links, or engage in any link scheme.
- AI-generated reviews. Every review is written by the named human reviewer.
- Negative SEO. We do not run negative SEO campaigns against competitors or tools we do not like.
- Hidden payments. Every payment we receive is disclosed somewhere on this site.
The full revenue breakdown (Q1 2026)
For full transparency, here is exactly how we made money in Q1 2026 (January-March 2026):
- Display ads (AdSense): $7,200 ($2,400/month average)
- Affiliate links: $1,350 ($450/month average)
- Sponsored content: $0
- Reader support: $0
- Total revenue: $8,550
Costs (Q1 2026):

- Hosting and infrastructure: $300 ($100/month)
- Domain and email: $60 ($20/month)
- Contractor help (occasional): $400
- Total costs: $2,560
Net: +$5,990 in Q1 2026, distributed among the 5 team members. That is roughly $400/month per person, which is not a lot - everyone on the team has a day job. The site is profitable, but it is not a full-time income for anyone. That is by design: we are practitioners first, reviewers second.

Frequently asked questions about our monetization
How much revenue do you make per month?
As of Q1 2026, roughly $2,800 per month. The number varies month to month and quarter to quarter. We publish the full quarterly breakdown on this page.
Who are your biggest advertisers?
Google AdSense is by far the biggest (about 85% of revenue). Affiliate partners are second (about 15%). We do not currently have any other advertising partners.
Do you take sponsored reviews of new tools?
No. Sponsored reviews create a conflict of interest. We will review any tool for free if it passes our quality bar, but we will not accept payment for the review. If you want your tool reviewed, email submissions@ai-tool-hub.example.
Do you take sponsored posts that look like reviews?
No. Every sponsored post is clearly labeled as "Sponsored by [Vendor]" in the title, the byline, and a banner at the top of the page. We do not disguise sponsored content as editorial.
Do you accept payment to remove a negative review?
No. Never. We have turned down every such offer, and we will continue to. If your tool has a low score, the way to fix it is to improve the tool, not to pay us.
Do you sell user data?
No. We do not collect user data beyond standard server logs (IP address, user agent, page requested). We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not share data with third parties. See our privacy policy for details.
Can I advertise via a tool I am affiliated with?
You can, as long as you disclose the relationship. We will not give your tool preferential treatment in exchange for the affiliate relationship, but we will not refuse your business either. Disclosure is the key.
What is your biggest expense?
Tools we pay for to test. We spend about $600/month on ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, Midjourney Standard, Surfer SEO, and a handful of other tools. The cost is the price of being able to test independently.
Final note

We respond within 5 business days, and we will publish the answer on this page if it is useful for other readers.
